Born in Graz, Austria, I grew up between Styria and Carinthia. On receiving a degree in Naval Architecture from Southampton University in England I worked as a yacht designer on south France’s Côte d’Azur. Back in Austria I followed quite different professions in a variety of industries, all of which culminated in the foundation of a training & development business that I still lead today.
At which point exactly landscape photography entered my life I cannot pinpoint with any certainty, but all the more my motive: I have a strong – and admittedly helplessly romantic – yearning for wild, untamed and primary nature.
Whilst I am enthusiastic about the possibilities and flexibility of digital photography I also enjoy, quite anachronistically, the decelerated work in 6×17 analogue panoramic photography, offering me an entirely different approach to view and experience the landscape.
